Xolo and 1Office serve different types of e-Residents. Xolo is optimized for freelancers and solo founders who want a polished, self-service platform. 1Office is for businesses that need more hand-holding, legal support, or complex structures.

My Experience

I use Xolo and have never used 1Office. This comparison is based on public pricing, feature lists, and feedback from people in my network who use 1Office. I'll be clear about what's personal experience vs. research.

Prices ex VAT, as of July 2026. Note the fine print: 1Office's €315 formation package already includes the €265 state fee, while with Xolo you pay the state fees (€265 + €25 + VAT) separately through the platform — the year-1 totals above account for that. 1Office's full-service accounting starts at €135/month, which widens the gap further. The question is whether the additional services justify the premium.

Dashboard & self-service

Xolo wins clearly. Xolo's dashboard is built for self-service — create invoices, track expenses, view financials, all in a modern interface. 1Office's interface is functional but more traditional. If you want to manage things yourself with minimal back-and-forth, Xolo is better.

Legal support

1Office wins. This is their differentiator. 1Office offers legal consultations, contract review, and assistance with complex corporate structures. If you need to add shareholders, change your company structure, or navigate Estonian corporate law, 1Office has in-house expertise. Xolo handles standard operations but refers you elsewhere for legal questions.

Banking integration

Xolo wins. Wise, LHV, and Revolut integration with automatic transaction sync. 1Office integrates primarily with LHV — no Wise auto-sync.

Support

Tie, different styles. Xolo: self-service first, support via chat/email. 1Office: more personal, direct communication with your assigned contact. If you prefer a "person I can call" model, 1Office suits you better. If you prefer "I'll handle it myself and ask only when stuck," Xolo.

When to choose Xolo

When to choose 1Office

  • You need legal advice as part of your package
  • Complex company structure (multiple shareholders, board changes)
  • You want a dedicated contact person, not a ticketing system
  • You prefer traditional service over self-service
  • You don't need Wise integration
Tip

Ask yourself: "Do I need a legal advisor or an accounting platform?" If it's the latter, Xolo. If it's the former, 1Office. Most freelancers need an accounting platform — legal questions come up rarely, and when they do, you can hire a lawyer for a one-off consultation cheaper than paying the 1Office premium every month.

My take

For the vast majority of e-Residents — freelancers, consultants, solo SaaS founders — Xolo is the better choice. Better dashboard, better integrations, and the price difference funds several hours of independent legal advice if you ever need it.

1Office makes sense for a small group: people with complex corporate structures, multiple shareholders, or ongoing legal needs. If that's you, the premium is justified.
